All entries will be evaluated through an online selection process based on submitted images and descriptions.
The submission link will be available on the Ceramics Western Cape website.
Please ensure you have a valid, paid-up membership for the year before submitting.
Be thorough and thoughtful in your artist statement and description, including details about your process and the concept behind the piece.
Online submissions open at 9 AM on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
Online submissions close at 7 PM on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
Late entries will not be accepted.
All works will remain anonymous throughout the selection and awards process.
The selectors’ decisions are final.
Unfortunately there is no feature to provide detailed written feedback on the merit of each entry on the selection mobile app.
Submit between 3 to 5 images of each piece entered.
One image may be a close-up or detail of the work.
Include a matchbox for scale in at least one of the images.
Ensure all images are of high quality and accurately represent the piece.
Images must be true to colour and form, with no excessive editing or filters.
Each image should be medium resolution, with a maximum file size of 2MB.
Photograph your work against a white, grey, or neutral background and base for clarity and consistency.
Lighting source should not produce excessive shadows.
CWC reserves the right to use submitted images for the exhibition catalogue, publicity, and marketing purposes.
All entries must be your own original concept, design, and construction.
Copied work will not be accepted—entries must not replicate the work of another ceramic artist.
All 3D-printed works must be clearly disclosed at the time of entry and must be produced from the artist’s own original design or digital template. The use of commercially purchased, downloaded, or AI-generated templates is not permitted.
All works must be for sale.
Sets, groups, or installations will be sold as a single unit and may not be split or sold in parts under any circumstances. Therefore a single price must be supplied for the entire set.
Premier and New Signature entries must be new works that have never been exhibited in public before nor entered into any previous competition/expo/fair.
All components of the ceramic work must have undergone a firing process.
Mixed media works are permitted but must be predominantly ceramic (at least 80% clay, 20% other material).
If the actual work varies significantly from the images submitted, or contains noticeable flaws such as cracks, it will be rejected.
Plates, wall-mounted, or suspended pieces must include appropriate stands, wires, or hanging mechanisms, along with clear instructions and diagrams for display.
An entry fee of R350 is required to enter the Annual Members Juried Exhibition for the Juried Premier and New Signature categories.
Entry into the non-juried categories is free.
All works entered must be for sale.
Please indicate the price at which you wish to sell your piece (this will appear on the exhibition label).
Ceramics Western Cape will deduct 40% commission from the selling (label) price on any works sold (Selling Price = [Amount You Want to Receive] ÷ 0.6)
Entrants will be notified of the selection outcome via email on Tuesday and Wednesday, 14 - 15 July 2026.
We are committed to handling your work with care and safety throughout the Exhibition process.
We reserve the right to reject any work that differs significantly from the images submitted.
The award judge will select the award-winning works after the exhibition is installed.
