Entry T&Cs

All submissions will be evaluated through an online selection process based on submitted images and descriptions, relevance to the theme and overall coherence and balance and impact of the exhibition.

The submission link will be available on the Ceramics Western Cape website.

Please ensure you have a valid, paid-up membership for the year before submitting.

Be concise and punchy in your description, including details about your clay body, firing, surface decoration, and how the spotlight technique has been highlighted.

Late submissions will not be accepted.

In all CWC exhibitions, the selector's decisions are final. Unfortunately no individual feedback can be provided on each submission.

Submit between 3 to 5 images of each piece.

One image may be a close-up or detail of the work.

Include a matchbox for scale in at least one of the images.

Ensure all images are of high quality and accurately represent the piece.

Images must be true to colour and form, with no excessive editing or filters.

Each image should be medium resolution, with a maximum file size of 2MB.

Photograph your work against a white, grey, or neutral background and base for clarity and consistency.

Lighting source should not produce excessive shadows.

CWC reserves the right to use submitted images for the exhibition catalogue, publicity, and marketing purposes.

All entries must be your own original concept, design, and construction.

Copied work will not be accepted—entries must not replicate the work of another ceramic artist.

3D-printed works are not permitted.

All works must be for sale.

All components of the ceramic work must have undergone a firing process.

Mixed media works are permitted but must be predominantly ceramic (minimum 80% clay, 20% other material).

If the actual work delivered varies significantly from the images submitted, or contains noticeable flaws such as cracks, it may be excluded from the exhibition.

Plates, wall-mounted, or suspended pieces must include appropriate stands, wires, or hanging mechanisms, along with clear instructions and diagrams for display.

Any artwork submitted must not have been displayed at any other exhibition.

No sets consisting of multiple individual pieces are allowed in this exhibition. If your piece consists of multiple components, they need to be attached together, and be able to be picked up as one individual piece.

Entry fee of R50 per piece submitted.

Please indicate the price at which you wish to sell your piece (this will appear on the exhibition label).

Ceramics Western Cape will deduct 30% commission from the selling (label) price on any works sold (Selling Price = [Amount You Want to Receive] ÷ 0.7)

You are responsible for delivery and collection of your accepted works to the exhibition venue on the dates and times published on the website.

Ceramics Western Cape will notify artists via email regarding sold work. If you have not been contacted to inform you that your work has been sold, then you will need to collect your work after the exhibition run.
